Our county fair was last month, and I entered several knitted items. Here are pictures of them. I got blue ribbons on everything, and a couple of sweepstakes too!

This is a little blue baby sweater. I created the pattern myself, adapting a standard baby sweater by adding the fancy stitches. I like how it turned out.

This is one of the ear flap hats that sell so well at farmers market. This one has cute corkscrews at the top.

This is the Americana bag seen already on this blog.

This is one of the cell phone cases I designed and knitted. The flower is from Nicky Epstein's book, Knitted Embellishments.

This is my friend's baby's sweater that I knitted around Christmas time last year. I was very pleased to receive a sweepstakes ribbon for it. I was going to enter it in the state fair, but missed the submission deadline. Maybe next year.

Someone inquired about the pattern I used for this little sweater and hat. It can be found here

great baby sweater ensemble. Looks like you did a fantastic job on the knitting. Know where I can get the pattern(s)? - doriharrell@charter.net

The pattern was a freebie put out by Red Heart. I found it online at Coats.com. Here's the link

Okay. That address didn't all print out. It's free project #LW1494 on Coatsandclark.com. Let me know if you still can't find it.

Karen,
Please,I need your HELP! I'm knitting LW1494, the same little cabled sweater jacket you won a ribbon on.
My problem is understanding the directions on the part for "Shape Neck/ Shoulder: Work across 17 sts at front edge and place on holder; dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 times--20 sts. Work even until 5" above division." If I only have 17 sts on my holder, how can I dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 times--20 sts.???
Please help this novice knitter understand the meaning of this direction. Thank you for any help you can supply.

Karen,
I need help on the shape shoulder/neck part of Coats & clark LW1494. It says to work across 17 sts at front edge and place on holder; dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 times--20 sts.
How can that be?! If I'm only working on 17 sts and I dec 3 times in 6 rows, what does the --20 mean?
I'm a novice knitter and I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bari,

I haven't taken a look at the pattern, but I believe that the stitches that you work are all the stitches EXCEPT the 17 that you put on the holder. Does that make sense?
